Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse has rice fields, horses and a garden: What makes the actor’s country retreat unlike a typical celebrity home
Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse is no ordinary celebrity getaway. Spread across 150 acres and known as Arpita Farms after his sister, the place feels more like a working countryside retreat than a flashy weekend pad.
It has rice fields where the actor has planted saplings himself, stables for his horses, and gardens that grow vegetables and fruits for the family table.
Valued at around Rs 80 crore, it sits in the quiet outskirts of Panvel, surrounded by greenery, mountains and waterbodies, offering a rare glimpse of how one of Bollywood’s biggest stars chooses to live when the cameras are off. What sets it apart is simple. Most star homes lean heavily on marble, gold and show.
This one mixes comfort with real farm work, animal care and open land that the family actually uses.
A living farm, not just a pretty backdrop
During the lockdown years, Salman spent long stretches at the farmhouse with family. Videos from the lockdown time show him driving a tractor, getting mud on his clothes and planting rice saplings alongside relatives and staff. The fields are not decorative. They form part of the daily rhythm of the property. Reports note that he grows potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkins and other vegetables without artificial fertilisers, often cooking them for guests.
Orchards with different fruit trees add to the harvest. His father, Salim Khan, once said the produce is meant only for the family, not for sale. It is a quiet commitment to healthier food and a slower pace. That hands-on farming is what makes the place feel different from the typical celebrity estate where land is mostly for the view.
Horses, stables and a soft spot for animals
Salman has long been known for his love of horses. The farmhouse has well-kept stables where the animals live and are cared for.
He Is often seen feeding them, riding or simply spending time nearby. Family members and visitors have shared moments of horse rides and quiet mornings around the stables.
Beyond horses, the grounds are home to dogs, goats and other animals. Some accounts even mention space that functions like a small shelter. The open land lets the animals move freely, which fits the actor’s well-documented affection for creatures of all kinds. In a world where many luxury homes keep pets as accessories, here the animals are part of the everyday life of the place.
Rustic comfort that still feels like home
Inside, the design stays warm and grounded. Wooden flooring, large windows that pull in natural light, leather couches and earthy tones create a lived-in feel rather than a showroom. There are multiple bungalows on the property so the extended family can stay together comfortably.
Outdoors, a swimming pool is framed by palm trees, lounge chairs and a serene Buddha statue, giving it a resort feel, but it maintains the countryside feel.
And a fully equipped gym keeps the fitness-conscious actor healthy when he’s away from the city. Natural features add to the charm: walking trails, misty mountain views, a small river and even a cave-like area with a waterfall. It is the kind of space where kids can play, adults can unwind and the whole family can gather without feeling cooped up.
Why it stands apart from the usual star lifestyle
Most celebrity homes in Mumbai or its outskirts are polished escapes designed for parties and photographs. Arpita Farms works harder. It is a place where Salman farms, looks after horses, grows food and spends long stretches with his mother, brothers, sister and their children. During difficult times like the pandemic, it became a safe and active refuge rather than just a luxury hideout.
The property’s scale and natural setting make social distancing easy, but more importantly, it reflects a side of the actor that feels rooted. He does not just own the land; he uses it.
